4: RPG with great art (RPG a Day 2024)

#RPGaDay2024

Books of games with great art fill my multiple shelves. Art is excellent in an RPG when it evokes the style of play presented in the text. Some games drew me initially because of their art: Shiver, City of Mist, and Vaesen. Picking one isn’t easy, but picking Flabbergasted by Fleur and Chalsea Sciortino is easy.

Flabbergasted is a comedic role-playing game set in the Roaring 20s. It is inspired by “Jeeves and Wooster” and “Faulty Towers”. Narrative-driven and rules-lite, the game puts us in a world of satire and social commentary with all the tools to meet the genre.

The art is cartoon and colorful. We see the comedy, we see the lighthearted poking, and it shows us the game. It is on my “for the channel” list, and I know the right table will fall in love.
